360° Feedback, with a difference
Traditional 360° reviews, also known as ‘multi-rater’ or ‘multi-source’ assessments, are employee appraisals that gather performance information from all around the employee. Members of the organisation who may be involved in a 360° review include supervisors, top management, subordinates, co-workers and representatives from other departments who interact with the employee. In fact, anyone who has useful information on how the employee does the job may be a source in the appraisal, providing a broader view of the employee’s performance.
'A recent study on 360° feedback for leaders has supported the hypothesis that improvement in a leader’s consideration and employee development behaviours will lead to positive changes in employees' job satisfaction and engagement, and reduce their intent to leave (Brett 582-583).'
Effects of 360° feedback
Strategic use of 360° feedback - benchmarking
We can develop and deliver any type of 360° feedback system for our clients, in addition we can work with an existing 360° system already in place. Where we differ from out conterparts is in the use of the data collected during the feedback process.
As well as delivering the professional, personalised and individual reports one has become acustomed to in the 360° feedback process, we develop benchmark reports for teams, departments, divisions and the organisation as a whole. There are a number of distinct benefits to this approach which allow organisations to:
- Take advantage of under-utilised personnel strengths to increase productivity
- Avoid the trap of counting on skills that may be weak in the organisation
- Apply human asset data to the valuation of the organisation
- Make succession planning more accurate
- Design more efficient coaching and training initiatives
- Effectively market the skills of its members
