The challenge

In 2015 US-based Valeant approached The Survey Initiative to organise and implement a staff survey to their 22,000 employees across the world.

Valeant had undergone a period of rapid growth through a number of acquisitions and were keen to have their finger on the HR pulse.

What did the Survey Initiative do?

In 2015 The Survey Initiative was tasked to run the annual staff survey to Valeant’s global employees that in the past had been predominantly paper-based.

In 2016 The Survey Initiative made several recommendations to move the staff survey forward.

  • Online surveys for all.
  • Introduction of QR codes for production line staff to access on smartphones.
  • Development of survey design.

In 2016 the survey was received by 22,000 employees in 18 different languages. The response rates soared and the results were recorded in regional and localised workbooks for the management teams to analyse and share with their teams.

Results

  • Thanks to The Survey Initiative’s management of the staff survey, response rates have risen to 77%.
  • The 2016 survey ran without a hitch!
  • The results will now be used by the senior management team to create the foundation stones for the company’s next steps.
