Do you dodge fun and glory?

January 11th, 2015 by Gary Cattermole

As employee engagement specialists, we fully support any activity that builds rapport between team members and sport is one of the quickest ways to achieve it – it creates a common interest and provides the opportunity for fun, healthy competition and relationship building – not forgetting the chance to get fit.

With that in mind, how could we refuse the opportunity to sponsor a sport that is relatively new to the UK but has been played in the United States since the 1800s? We’re talking about Dodgeball! You may well have seen the 2004 film of the same name that starred Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, which is probably credited for bringing the sport to the attention of a wider British audience. If you haven’t yet seen it, here’s how it’s played: essentially, there are two teams who play against one another.  The main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by the opposing team or forcing them to move outside their court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them. It’s fast and it’s fun and it takes teamwork.

Dodgeball London, an organisation that specialises in running corporate Dodgeball teambuilding events, has recently announced the launch of a new Dodgeball London League; giving ten teams the opportunity to play for a cash prize of £500, but more importantly, the title of League Winner.

The tournament will take place at Play on Sports on Wood Wharf Business Park in Wood Wharf, East London from 14 January 2015 – 18 March 2015. All equipment is provided and we’re proud sponsors!

So if you think you might have what it takes and you can find nine willing cohorts – why not put a team together and enter. You can find out more at www.dodgeball-london.com/dodgeball-london-league.php.
